Once the PI (or lab-admin) has created a study that you have access to, after you login to the portal, you should see this study in the "My Studies" page.

( Note: If you do not see any study contact your PI/lab-admin or submit a ticket to our support system).

Click on the study name that you are interested in. Now you are "inside a study", if some one has already created trials for this study, you should see a list of trials and all the metadata related to each trial in this table.

If there are no existing trials, you should then start creating trials. Now, you have two options:

  • If you have many trials to create, we recommend that you first populate a "Metadata Pool" for all the trials, then when creating trials, data from this "Metadata Pool" will be readily available to populate the metadata input fields for each trial (very time saving!)
  • If you are just going to create one trial or just adding a Calibration trial, then you can go ahead and create the trial directly, see instructions below. "Metadata Pool" will be populated automatically when you create regular trials.

Create a Trial

- Just slightly below the "Trials" tab (above the table), there is "Add New Trial" link, click on this link.

- Next decide if you are creating a calibration trial (for storing calib. grid or calib. cube) or a regular trial.

Calibration Trial
- If you selected Calibration trial, you get directed to a form where you have to put in the name of the calibration trial (example "calibration-start") and a date (if creating trials for very old data that has no date associated with it, please check mark "Unknown" box).

- If you like you can add a comment, description in the "Comment" text box about this trial. And if you like you can select which lab this trial is/or was taken place.

- Next click the "Save Trial" button and that is it. You will get directed to your study page, and should see your new trial in the table.

If you made a mistake, for example typed in wrong trial name or date, don't worry, you can correct the mistake. From the study page click on the trial name in the table, once "inside a trial", just click on the Edit (located just below the trial name in red big letters)

Regular Trial

- If you selected Regular trial, you get directed to a form where you have to put in the name of the trial (example "trial1 Day1 ") and a date (if creating trials for very old data that has no date associated with it, please check mark "Unknown" box).

- At this point you can go and click Save Trial at the bottom of this form, but we really encourage you to fill in any further metadata (e.g.Research Subject Name,  Genus & Species etc.)

- You can save the trial now, and you will get directed to your study page, and should see your new trial in the table.

If you made a mistake, for example typed in wrong trial name or date, don't worry, you can correct the mistake. From the study page click on the trial name in the table, once "inside a trial", just click on the Edit (located just below the trial name in red big letters)
